How to resize a signature to 140×60 px

Most application portals ask for a signature image of 140 by 60 pixels, on a white background, in JPG format. Here is the simple way to make one that gets accepted.

A scanned or photographed signature almost never matches the portal's rules on the first try. The image is usually too large, the background is grey or lined, or the signature sits in the middle of a big empty page. The portal checks the file's size in pixels, its format, and sometimes its file size in KB, so all three have to be right.

Start by signing on plain white paper with a black pen. Sign the way you normally sign — not too small, not too large — and leave the paper flat and well lit when you photograph or scan it. A photo taken in shadow, or on lined paper, is much harder to clean up. If you scan the page, scan at 200 DPI or higher so the lines of your signature stay smooth.

Crop the image tightly around your signature before you resize it. Cut away the empty paper, the edges of the desk, and any other writing. The signature should fill most of the frame, with just a small white margin around it. If you resize a whole page down to 140 by 60 pixels, your signature becomes a tiny unreadable line in the middle — that is the most common mistake.

Now open the Signature Resizer on SubmitSure. Set the width to 140 and the height to 60, choose a white background, and raise the contrast a little if the signature looks faint. Download the result as a JPG and look at it: the signature should be dark and readable, the background plain white, and there should be no grey smudges or paper lines left.

Finally, check the finished file. Upload it to the File Checker and set the rules the portal gave you — usually JPG, 140 by 60 pixels, and a KB limit such as 10 to 20 KB. If everything passes, the file is ready to upload. If the file is too large in KB, use the Image Compressor with a target inside the portal's range and check it again.

One more thing: use the same signature everywhere on one application. Portals sometimes compare the signature on the form with the signature on your ID, so sign the paper the same way you normally sign official documents. A different, hurried signature is a common reason for extra verification later.

Do it in 3 steps

  1. Sign and crop — Sign on plain white paper with a black pen, photograph or scan it, then crop tightly around the signature.
  2. Resize it — Open the Signature Resizer, set 140 × 60 px, white background, and download as JPG.
  3. Check it — Run the file through the File Checker with the portal's rules — upload only when it passes.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my signature rejected?

Usually the size is wrong, the background is not white, or the signature is too small inside a big image. Crop tightly first, then resize to the portal's exact pixels.

What if my portal wants a different size, like 200×80?

The method is the same. Enter the portal's width and height in the Signature Resizer instead of 140 × 60, and check the result against the portal's rules.

Can I use a photo of my signature instead of a scan?

Yes, if it is sharp, flat, and well lit. Take the photo straight from above, not at an angle, and crop out the desk and shadows before resizing.

Does SubmitSure store my signature?

No. The image is processed inside your browser and never uploaded. Close the page and nothing is kept.
